The Rock

Alcatraz Island or The Rock is a small island located in the center of San Francisco Bay. It served as a lighthouse, a military fortification, a military prison followed by a federal prison until 1963, when it became a national recreation area.

Today, the island is a historic site and is open to tours. Visitors can reach the island by ferry ride.

I have not gone myself, but will soon do.

This is one of the last 2 of the picture I took at the restaurant where I had pre-christmas brunch with my family.
